Teaching Nia to CANTEEN – Kids and young adults with Cancer

Both Viktoria Dohandi and Melinda Nassif had the privilege to teach kids & young adults with cancer this month in June at the Stanwell Top camping ground.

What a moving, fun experience it was – to be able to share and introduce these beautiful beings what Nia is about. The kids ranged from 5 – 25 years old, who are all going through different levels of cancer stages and types in there bodies. The camp included discussion groups of what they are each going through and having a space to share their own experience, as well as fun activities and excursions, one of these being Nia.

Most of them didn’t know what Nia was about and you could see how some were open to it, ready for some action, and others more cautious and fragile to be seen. It was quiet moving to be able to guide them to understanding the joy of moving their own bodies way and how to increase the pleasure of listening to what their bodies are going through.

Much fun was had and to see their faces light up and energised. Some students really went for it and was great to see their freeness in letting go. For some students, they preferred to sit down. Being able to encouraging them as well to watch and know that it was ok if that is what their body had chosen and how rewarding it can be to actually watch and move while sitting in your own way!

Nia is for EverBODY and that is what’s so great in it – to be able to immerse your in being with your body and move in ways to make you feel pleasure, love, peace, balance and growth. SIGN ME UP!!
