Is the up & down weather making you feel imbalanced, indecisive?! Is anyone feeling like things are a little unsettling right now? Could be just me 😉
As we are in the first month of transitioning into Spring, trying to work out what the weather is doing – let along what we are doing in our own life… the state of the world and mixed opinions… not to mention the ‘end of the year’ is fast approaching and there is so much to do! It can sometimes feel like it’s a shambles at times.. or perhaps you have it all sorted and wondering why others can’t sort it out! 😉 Regardless, let’s get inspired to move through whatever it is that’s going on for you!
Dance and movement is one thing that sure is important to have in my life and I often wonder how I can make the rest of what I do in my life fit around it! It sure can be tricky. But hey let your passion burn brighter than your fears, I say!
One of the beautiful things I love about the Nia Technique and practise (and i’m sure there are may others that are out there too) is learning to move to the beat of your own drum. I can have clients that are robust, wild and and free, that move at high impact and others that are in a more smaller, slower pace and take their time to discover their body – an ALL of this is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL to see and SAFE to be with together in this way and explore. I love that we can come together and celebrate how YOU are, how you move and put aside feelings of ‘not being good enough’ or ‘I don’t have the fitness level’ or ‘My body is not capable’ or ‘i’m not as good as another’. When we truly step into shining your own light, the essence of who you are and letting your heart be seen, we step into a world of difference. Being okay with where you are at, and around others, creates a sense of togetherness and comfort for being seen for who you are. Also great value in worthiness of who you are.
As I write this it reminds me of one thing I learnt from doing some Volunteer work at an Orphanage in Nepal back in 2012. The organisation I visited really wished for their children to be self-sustainable. With that in mind they really asked the foreigners who would visit them or donate to them, that they would prefer not to be given cartons on milk, packaged foods for example, but rather a Cow, or seeds to grow, or money to get these resources so they can grow and have resources to live sustainably with the resources they have. This also teaches the children the value in growing their own food for themselves, that they can be efficient to look after their own life without relying on outside resources only. I loved this and has stayed in my heart since. Taking ownership of your life rather than expecting others to give you what you need and how you can have a community to work together to achieve your own individual goals.
The point of sharing this I guess the value in creating routines that are sustainable and resourceful for you too and offer healthy habits that don’t isolate you. In terms of body awareness, wisdom, movement, ask yourself today:
How can I create space to explore, use my imagination in a creative and inspiring way?
How can I spend time to see what it is that’s going on for me and process it, to see what steps I can take to achieve my vision of living my best life?
How can I feel good about my life and about my body?
How can I be responsible for me and be okay to share this with others in a respectful, conscious way?
I hope this resonates for you as much as for me right now, but regardless – let’s dance, move together.. creating community is so important right now and alway, so what better way to do this with dance and movement!
You can Book a Class and find out where i’ll be or try a workshop and more!
Find the beat of your own drum!
